Envato Elements Accounts: A Buyer's Checklist for Creators

Designers, video editors and web developers who buy an Envato Elements account usually want the subscription library without the admin. Licensing on Elements is tied to the account holder, though, so it pays to understand exactly what you are getting. This checklist covers the subscription, the listing, the store and the steps after delivery.

Envato Elements versus Envato Market

Envato runs two quite different services, and listings sometimes blur them.

  • Envato Elements is a subscription. While it is active, the subscriber can download from a large library of video templates, stock footage, music, sound effects, graphics, fonts, photos, presentation templates, WordPress themes and plugins.
  • Envato Market is the pay-per-item side, made up of marketplaces such as ThemeForest, CodeCanyon, VideoHive and AudioJungle. Every purchase there is a separate licence, and an account is only worth the items already bought on it.

Most people who set out to buy an Envato Elements account want the first. Check that the listing says Elements plainly rather than just Envato.

How item licences are tied to the account

This is the part many buyers skip. On Elements, when you download an item you register it to a project, and a licence certificate is issued in the account holder's name. The licence covers that single use. Items registered while the subscription was active stay licensed for those projects, but new downloads and new registrations need an active plan.

What that means in practice:

  • If the account is in someone else's name, the certificates you generate will show that name. For client work where proof of licence matters, check whether the profile name can be changed to yours.
  • Keep a copy of every certificate alongside the project it belongs to.
  • If an agency or a larger client needs a clean licensing trail, a subscription in your own name may suit you better. A good listing helps you make that call rather than hiding it.

Whatever you choose, follow Envato's own terms of use and the Elements licence terms.

What a good Envato listing spells out

A clear description answers these questions:

  1. Is it an individual, team or student plan?
  2. Is the subscription active, and will it renew or simply run to the end of its paid period?
  3. Can the email, password and profile name be changed?
  4. Is it a fresh account, or does it carry download history you may or may not want?
  5. What exactly is delivered: email and password only, or access to the linked mailbox as well?

Where a listing is vague on these points, set it beside offers that are specific and let the detail decide.

Checking the seller before you pay

rStock approves stores before they can sell and reviews each listing before it goes live, yet when you buy an Envato Elements account, the choice between stores is still yours. The public profile of each store shows its sales count, its rating and its insurance balance, which is money the store keeps with the platform and works as a trust signal. Reviews on past orders reveal how the store handles subscription products, and refunded orders are labelled rather than hidden. Sponsored placements are marked as such, and a paid plan never lifts a store in the rankings behind the scenes.

Order page, delivery and first login

Payment comes only from your rStock balance. You top it up with cryptocurrency through Cryptomus, and it is credited in USDT. Verify your email first, since that is required to top up and to buy. Choose one product and a quantity, pay, and the account details appear on your order page as a delivery record. The store does not receive your money immediately.

Log in promptly and open the subscription page to confirm the plan type and its status. Then:

  • Change the password and update the email and profile name where Envato allows it
  • Enable two-factor authentication if it is offered for the account
  • Download and register one item to a test project so you know licensing works
  • Keep the delivered details to yourself

If the subscription is not what was described

A lapsed plan, a different plan type or a login that fails are all grounds to open a dispute from the order page within the dispute window. Take screenshots of the subscription page before changing anything. The store answers first; if you cannot settle it between you, a moderator can be called in. The result may be a full refund, a partial refund, release to the store or a split, with any refund going back to your rStock balance.
